‘Tis the season to attend the mass funeral New York attends: wear black season. If you read my blog, you’ll know that I’m BIG on color and prints, so colder days aren’t off the hook. So how exactly can you avoid being another bypasser who routines in lazy-chic?
Let’s begin with color theory. If you’re scared about pairing colors in general, it’s helpful to look at the wheel-of-life and come up with color combinations. This means that any primary color (red, yellow, blue) or secondary color (purple, orange, green) will go with each other as long as they are in the same category. Like the pictured outfit, I wear secondary colors in different textures (that velvet though, am I right?).
This applies to the micro level like accessories and shoes as well. So if you have an ugly Christmas sweater, don’t be afraid to pair that with a colorful scarf or bright colored beanie that unexpectedly goes well with it. After all, winter on the east coast is miserable enough already, so who needs to see more of that dullness on what you wear?
